TRUSYS Principal John Gargett was the keynote speaker at the annual A View from the Top Seminar hosted by the Bellingham office of Moss Adams.  The seminar regrouped CEOs, CFOs and local business leaders about the numerous changes affecting their firms. The well-constructed seminar offered topics examining taxation and fiscal policies changes and especially the state of uncertainty caused by political polarization and the resulting legislative grid lock.

This state of uncertainty was an interesting background to introduce the topic of Organizational Resilience to these decision makers. John used recent examples like Hurricane Sandy and local examples like the Bellingham Marina fire to illustrate not only the risks facing firm and the illusion of “It can’t happen to me” but also the success of Organizational resilience thinking in protecting a New Jersey Marine Services business, in reducing the cost of small and frequent incidents for Washington State Transit Insurance Pool, and in maintaining business continuity at the Port of Bellingham after the fire.
